What is Self Love?
I thought it meant you love yourself which in that case yes, sure I love myself, but there’s a lot more to Self Love than just saying you love yourself. It’s doing little things or big things for yourself without feeling guilty.
I do things for myself more often these days than ever before, because I deserve it, to help maintain my sanity and most importantly because I love myself. If I don’t show myself love, how can I show love to others. I have to take care of me to be able to care for everyone else, I’m just as important as everyone else.
As moms, sometimes we get used to putting ourselves last and that shouldn’t be the case. We are the glue that keeps our family together and our homes happy. We do so much. The least we can do for ourselves is treat ourselves to some good quality “me time” even if it’s something as small as waking up early to sit quietly collecting our thoughts while enjoying a warm cup of coffee before the chaos of the day begins. For me personally, I really enjoy going in for a massage once a month, a pedicure every two months, even going to the grocery store by myself while browsing the isles without feeling rushed with kiddos is wonderful. I make time to get myself ready for the day more often now, because I’ve noticed that when I look good I feel good and I love that feeling. Taking time to do things I love again like hiking, dancing and reading are still on my list. I give myself time to take long baths and really enjoy them without feeling guilty or worried about what’s going on in the other room. Going for coffee and listening to my favorite podcast or commenting to my IG posts or messages uninterrupted makes my heart feel happy.
What ever you choose to do, known that you deserve it, you’re amazing and loving yourself will only make you a better person. Take care of yourself, choose to be kind to yourself and never forget that self love is not selfish it’s necessary. You already carry so much love in your heart, so go ahead and give some to yourself.
